Far from ECCO’s Scandinavian roots, two Kiwi lads with a passion for footwear, opened their first ECCO partnership store in 2002. Their knowledge and passion for ECCO shoes evolved over a decade of working with the brand. What drove them was a desire to educate consumers about the benefits of ECCO, due to their understanding of how truly innovative the ECCO brand is.
ECCO NZ now comprises five concept stores – three in Auckland, one in Wellington and one in Christchurch, as well as a significant market from its online shoppers. Director Damon Scott feels as passionate about the brand as always has. “It’s a lifestyle brand and it’s heading in the right direction. Its products are innovative and made in an environmentally sustainable way. Perhaps being able to control your entire manufacturing process – from cow to consumer – is the reason. This shoemaker is one of the few in the world to still do so”.
